Mainland Safety Training Company is set to host an extensive Basic First Aid course, formerly known as Occupational First Aid Level 1 (OFA Level 1), on Saturday, March 1, 2025. This comprehensive 8-hour workshop is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and practical skills necessary to respond effectively to common medical emergencies, both in the workplace and daily life. Course Content:

The Basic First Aid course offers a hands-on learning experience, covering a wide range of essential topics, including:

  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR): Participants will learn the latest CPR techniques to assist individuals experiencing cardiac emergencies.
  • Wound Care: The course will cover methods for managing various types of wounds, from minor cuts to more severe injuries, ensuring proper care to prevent infections.
  • Emergency Scene Management: Trainees will be taught how to assess emergency situations, prioritize care, and manage the scene until professional help arrives.
  • Choking Procedures: Instruction on how to effectively respond to choking incidents in both adults and children.
  • Shock Recognition and Treatment: Understanding the signs of shock and the appropriate first aid responses to stabilize the individual.
  • Burn Management: Guidance on the immediate care for different degrees of burns to minimize damage and promote healing.
  • Musculoskeletal Injuries: Training on how to handle fractures, sprains, and strains, including immobilization techniques.

Certification:

Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a Basic First Aid certificate recognized by WorkSafeBC. This certification is valid for three years and is a valuable credential for individuals in various industries, enhancing workplace safety and compliance.
