Improv for Actors with Tess Degenstein: A Comedy Workshop for Stage and Screen Performers

improv

Actors in Vancouver can now hone their improv skills with the Improv for Actors class hosted by Blind Tiger Comedy. Starting Sunday, March 9, 2025, this three-session course led by professional actor Tess Degenstein will teach actors how to integrate improvisation into their craft, making it a stronger part of their performance toolkit. This workshop is perfect for actors who want to expand their range, experiment with unscripted scenes, and sharpen their ability to improvise both in auditions and live performances.

What to Expect from Improv for Actors

This Improv for Actors workshop will focus on improvising using existing scripts and characters as a foundation. Participants will engage in character development, learn to create scenes from scratch, and practice using improv as a generative creative tool for writing, devising, and performance. Actors will be challenged to explore new characters, improvise dialogue, and bring unexpected moments to life on stage. The course culminates in a live performance where classmates will showcase their newly developed skills.

This workshop is tailored for actors who want to learn how to thrive when asked to improvise, whether in an audition or while performing. The emphasis is on creativity, fun, and surprising yourself—two things any actor can appreciate.
