Vancouver, BC – On Friday, March 14, 2025, Amanda Wood invites newcomers to discover the art of weaving at her Learn to Weave Cloth workshop at the Eastside Atelier. This beginner weaving workshop will run from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Friday and continue on Saturday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, giving participants the perfect opportunity to explore this creative craft and leave with a beautiful handmade piece of cloth.

A Hands-On Introduction to Weaving

In this workshop, beginners will learn to weave cloth using a rigid heddle loom, a user-friendly tool ideal for novices. Working with neutral palettes of silks, cotton, and linen, students will create tactile, textural fabric suitable for a scarf or a collection of towels. The Eastside Atelier, located at 1310 William Street, offers a cozy atmosphere where attendees can feel inspired and relaxed as they begin their weaving journey.

Guided Weaving Experience

The workshop will begin with an introduction to the loom and materials, followed by a discussion on the qualities of cloth. Amanda Wood, an experienced textile artist and weaving instructor, will provide expert advice on design choices, texture, and color selection. On Saturday, students will receive hands-on guidance, ensuring they weave up to 2 yards of cloth, with the option to create a scarf or a set of towels. Amanda will also introduce finishing techniques, offering both sewn and non-sewn hem options for completing the fabric.

Small Class Size for Personalized Attention

With an intimate class size of 4-5 participants, this workshop ensures each student receives personalized attention. Whether you have experience or are starting fresh, Amanda’s approach fosters a welcoming, relaxed environment, encouraging experimentation and creativity. No previous experience is necessary—just an eagerness to learn and explore the art of weaving.
