About the Instructor – Janice Chan
Janice Chan is a certified Japanese Tea Master and the Global Japanese Tea Association (GJTA) representative for Western Canada. As the co-founder of Teakan, she specializes in blending traditional Japanese tea practices with modern education, making this centuries-old art form more accessible.
Her training includes:
- Studying Chanoyu with the Urasenke School, a leading Japanese tea ceremony tradition
- Learning Senchadō under the Oubaku-Baisa Ryū school
- Conducting workshops and lectures on Japanese tea culture, history, and techniques
With a deep understanding of Japanese tea traditions, Janice brings a rich storytelling approach to her workshops, connecting historical practices with contemporary insights.
